India is a very significant market for ISS Global Forwarding and an increasingly important part of our global network. Its growing manufacturing base, expanding international trade and strong connections with Asia, the Middle East, Europe and Africa make it strategically important both for our business and for the customers we support.<\/p>\n
What makes India particularly important is also the nature of the customer base here. We work across sectors including manufacturing, industrial, automotive, healthcare and technology, and many of these customers are managing increasingly international supply chains with multiple origins, destinations and logistics requirements.<\/p>\n
Our focus is therefore not simply on growing our presence in India. It is about strengthening trade lane connectivity, specialist capabilities and the way India connects with the wider ISS Global Forwarding network across more than 60 countries. We want to combine strong local execution with consistent global operating standards and develop longer-term logistics partnerships with our customers as their businesses grow internationally.<\/p>\n
For us, differentiation starts with understanding the customer\u2019s supply chain rather than simply selling an individual freight product.<\/p>\n
We have a broad portfolio covering air freight, ocean freight, road transportation, customs, contract logistics and industrial projects, but the value comes from how those capabilities are brought together. A customer may have routine freight movements alongside highly complex or time-critical requirements. Our role is to understand the complete requirement and build the right solution around it.<\/p>\n
We also combine the reach of an international network with the ability to make decisions locally and respond quickly. Operational ownership and accountability are very important to us, particularly when circumstances change and customers need clear decisions rather than additional layers of process.<\/p>\n
Increasingly, our conversations with customers are about transit performance, cost, resilience, visibility and execution. We want to become an extension of the customer\u2019s supply chain team and remain agile, accountable and easy to do business with.<\/p>\n
Logistics plays a fundamental role in connecting Indian manufacturing and businesses with international markets. As supply chains become more complex, that role involves much more than moving cargo from one country to another.<\/p>\n
Many companies today are sourcing from multiple origins, manufacturing in different locations and distributing into several markets. Our role is to coordinate those movements across origin, gateways, international transportation, customs and destination delivery, while giving the customer clear visibility and control throughout the process.<\/p>\n
Through our global network, we can connect Indian businesses with key sourcing and consumption markets and develop solutions across ocean freight, air freight, road transportation, customs, warehousing and project cargo.<\/p>\n
An important part of that is working across countries as one network. Rather than looking at the requirement only from an India perspective, our teams can coordinate across the full trade lane. That gives customers greater predictability, stronger coordination and one accountable logistics partner managing the movement from origin through destination.<\/p>\n
The expectations have changed considerably. Customers are no longer looking only at whether cargo can move from one port or airport to another, or simply comparing freight rates.<\/p>\n
They are looking much more closely at the complete impact logistics has on their business. That includes total landed cost, transit schedules, inventory, compliance, visibility, resilience and the ability to respond when something does not go according to plan.<\/p>\n
Recent years have also shown how quickly capacity constraints, geopolitical developments and routing changes can affect supply chains. Customers therefore expect logistics partners to identify exceptions early, communicate proactively and provide alternatives when circumstances change.<\/p>\n
Technology has become an important part of this, particularly around visibility and exception management, but it cannot replace forwarding knowledge and operational judgement. Customers increasingly want both. They expect good digital information, measurable service performance and experienced people who can interpret what is happening and take action.<\/p>\n
The relationship is becoming much more consultative. Logistics providers are increasingly participating in supply chain planning and risk management rather than acting only as transportation vendors.<\/p>\n
Project logistics requires a very different level of planning and control because every movement can present a different combination of cargo dimensions, weight, lifting requirements, route restrictions, infrastructure limitations and project schedules.<\/p>\n
For ISS Global Forwarding, project logistics is a specialist capability in its own right. Our teams work across heavy lift, ODC, breakbulk, vessel and barge chartering, air charter and multimodal project cargo.<\/p>\n
A significant amount of work happens before the cargo actually moves. Depending on the project, that can include feasibility studies, cargo surveys, route studies, engineering, site surveys, risk assessments, lifting requirements, carrier selection and planning around the final delivery location.<\/p>\n
Once execution begins, the coordination can extend from Ex Works collection and export formalities through port operations, international transportation, chartering and final site delivery.<\/p>\n
India has developed strong capability in this area, particularly for energy, infrastructure, capital equipment, oil and gas and industrial manufacturing. Ultimately, successful project execution comes down to detailed planning, engineering, HSE, operational control and having clear accountability throughout the movement.<\/p>\n
Our view is that technology should make a customer\u2019s supply chain easier to manage. It should reduce complexity rather than simply introduce another platform or another source of information.<\/p>\n
That thinking is behind MYISS.AVS. Traditional tracking often stops at shipment or container level. MYISS.AVS takes visibility further by allowing customers to track information down to purchase order and SKU level, with more than 17 standard milestones from Cargo Ready Date through Proof of Delivery.<\/p>\n
Customers can search using information they already work with, such as invoice numbers, purchase order numbers, item codes or product descriptions, and see cargo status, transport documents and operational milestones in one place.<\/p>\n
The platform is designed for plug-and-play deployment without complex EDI integration, allowing customers to go live within days. AI supports data extraction and the integration of carrier information, while real-time updates and personalised alerts help teams identify and manage exceptions earlier.<\/p>\n
The technology, however, is only one part of the solution. The value comes from combining that information with forwarding knowledge and operational judgement. When customers have better visibility and experienced teams acting on that information, they can make stronger decisions around inventory, procurement and the wider supply chain.<\/p>\n
Our ambition is to continue building India as a strategic part of the ISS Global Forwarding network while ensuring that growth remains driven by customer requirements and capability.<\/p>\n
That means strengthening international connectivity, developing priority trade lanes and continuing to build specialist capabilities, particularly in project logistics, complex cargo and integrated freight solutions. It also means continued investment in our people, technology and solution engineering.<\/p>\n
From a commercial perspective, we want to deepen our relationships with strategic customers and support more of their requirements across products, industries and markets. As Indian businesses develop new sourcing locations, manufacturing footprints and distribution networks, we want our solutions to develop alongside them.<\/p>\n
We do not see growth simply as adding locations or increasing volume. The objective is to build the capabilities our customers will need as Indian manufacturing and trade become more internationally connected.<\/p>\n
