ISS GF engineered a multi-gateway supply chain continuity solution for a major industrial manufacturer during GCC disruptions, moving massive volumes through alternative ports including Jeddah, Fujairah, and Sohar. The operation entailed routing over 600 TEUs (>14,000 tons) of alumina ingots via Jeddah with specialized destuffing and flatbed delivery at Jebel Ali, chartering MV Nikator to bring 25,500 tons from Vietnam to Fujairah supported by over 3,000 truck trips, and moving thousands of tons of loose and bagged alumina via Sohar Port.

For one of the world’s leading industrial manufacturers, production-critical materials had to move across the GCC despite highly complex conditions. While the market searched for alternatives, ISS GF found a way forward.

The operation brought together alternative port routing, vessel chartering, specialised handling, and large-scale inland transport. Cargo was moved through Jeddah, Fujairah, and Sohar, supported by coordinated execution across origin, destination, warehouse, chartering, and trucking teams.

From China, more than 600 TEUs of alumina ingots were routed via Jeddah Port and moved onward to the customer’s production facility in Jebel Ali. Each ingot weighed approximately 1.9 tons, with the total movement exceeding 14,000 tons.

The move also required a specialised handling model beyond standard port-to-door delivery. ISS GF managed an additional handling stage at its Jebel Ali warehouse, where containers were grounded and destuffed, the ingots were unloaded using special forklifts and cranes, and the cargo was reloaded onto flatbeds for final delivery to the production facility.

In parallel, ISS GF managed a major movement from Vietnam to Fujairah Port through the chartered vessel MV Nikator, carrying 25,500 tons of cargo in jumbo bags weighing between 1.1 and 1.6 tons.

Across three mother vessels, more than 3,000 truck trips were completed from Fujairah to Jebel Ali, with a further 1,100 trips planned.

A third route through Sohar Port added further scale, including more than 160 tipper trailer trips carrying nearly 7,000 tons of loose alumina, supported by 275 additional trips for jumbo bags.

This was more than a freight movement. It was a continuity solution delivered under pressure — combining technical planning, operational agility, and network coordination to protect a critical industrial supply chain when conventional options were under strain.
